December Playlist | 2016

Hello and happy new year's eve!
Honestly, to me it doesn't feel like it's the end of the year, nor that I'm supposed to be celebrating it tonight. But, I think that it's definitely time for a new year, because this past one has had it's ups and downs, and we need to be refreshed. I hope you all will have fun/ had fun tonight/last night (depending when you're reading this) and let's jump into the playlist!

The Weeknd has to make and appearance here, with his latest album launching late November I had the chance to listen to all of the tracks and I'm honestly not feeling his new sound. The whole "new wave" thing is just not appealing to me, and it doesn't sound like The Weeknd. With that being said, Party Monster was the closest thing to his previous work in my opinion. So I think that is why I liked this song more than the rest of the album.

Jon Bellion is my newest discovery, and I think that his music is soo good! That is why I featured two of his songs in this playlist, as I had them both on repeat constantly! Guillotine starts of very soft and and kind of slow, but then the hook and the refrain start and it becomes the most danceable song ever! I think that this one will put anyone in an instant good mood. With that being said, All Time Low has a more "modern pop" vibe, and is an all around cool song to listen to. Plus, I recommend you to check out his cover art for his album, it's so amazingly cool and different!

Dua Lipa's cover of Good Times by Jamie xx was an instant hit with me. I had a shot "Dua Lipa phase" and when I stumbled up on this cover via the recommended songs I thought it was very cute and different to her previous songs. So, I heard the original version and Dua's cover has a very different vibe than the original. The original is more r'n'b but Dua made it sound like the original version was a very old song from some jazz singer (which is not the case at all).

Okay, I know I'm getting some looks for this one, but I couldn't resist. It's 5 Fine Frøkner by Gabrielle. So, a very short back story - I've been OBSESSED with Skam, a Norwegian web series this past month and I truly urge everyone to watch it, it's amazing! Anyways, this song was in the background of one very cute scene in season 3 and everyone who has watched Skam will understand why I love this song. But, those of you who are lost by this point might not think that the song is necessarily "good" (most of the time it's due to ignorance because it's foreign and because we don't understand it then it's not worth watching/listening to). I think that the song is catchy and fun, and I love singing along to the refrain because it's the only thing I'm able to remember the words to haha.

Okay, for the last one if I say that the title wasn't the thing that made me click it, then I would be lying. New Person, Same Old Mistakes (genius btw) by Tame Impala has been on repeat for the last week or two, it's soo good! Tame Impala has been on my radar for a while now, but their songs haven't stuck out to me. And them came along this one, and I take everything I previously said/thought back. I will definitely be listening to more of their songs in 2017!

And that is it! Another year, another 12 playlists! Click HERE for the whole playlist on YT, and all that is left for me to say is Happy New Year!

Monthly Moments | December

It's time for the second post in the "Monthly Moments" series woop woop! This time I'm talking you on a walk around Debar Maalo and its surroundings. I love this neighborhood, I've spent more time there in the last year than I have my entire life. It's my go-to place for taking blog photos because every street and every corner looks different, and sitting down for a coffee break is so easy as there are more coffee spots than you can imagine. As you can tell by the pictures, we found a bunch of cool doors and buildings, so we had to stop and take photos. Jokingly we said that this post can be a door advertisement, because it sure looks like it. I've been loving this outfit recently: a long coat, a warm scarf and cute socks peeking through the boots.
After walking around for about an hour we decided it's time to warm up, so we headed to Sindikat for some hot tea. I absolutely love Sindikat, it's the most chill and cheap priced coffee place in Skopje. Every time I'm contemplating where to go with my friends, we end up in Sindikat. And because I'm there so often, I have such cute memories of conversations and people in that place.

Also, Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate today!

Yellow Turtleneck | Embroidered Jeans | Military Jacket | Embroidered Skirt | Structured Backpack

Hello everyone!
Here is a small wishlist I created in collaboration with, an online clothing store that has amazingly fashionable and affordable clothing.
With the holidays coming up, I decided to choose both dressy and casual items, as people spend the holidays differently. So, for the casual/lazy types I've chosen a few pieces that to me screamed effortless chic! You know I'm obsessed with turtlenecks, so this mustard yellow one is perfection in a sweater. A good pair of jeans can be both dressed up and down, so why not give your plain denim skinny jeans a break and go for a nice embroidered relaxed jean for a change? While on the embroidered theme, I chose this military jacket with amazing details on the shoulders, I love clothing pieces that have a twist. Same goes for the skirt, that I would say can categorize as the "dressy" clothing item in this wishlist. But, in my opinion all dressy items can be dressed down, so I can see this skirt being worn in a casual, girl-on-the-go way. And of course, rounding up the list with a backpack, but not a plain one - a cool, structured, multiple pocket backpack. Talk about being stylish and functional at the same time!
I hope you enjoyed the post! Till next time.

4 Year Blogiversary Giveaway

Shy But Secretly Fabulous has turned 4! We've celebrated the last three years, so it's only fair we do the same this year. Wow, 4 years. I honestly can't believe how fast time flew by, it's like only yesterday I started high school and gathered the courage to open my blog. But, as I've said in the previous birthday posts, I wouldn't change that decision for the world! I've had so much amazing experiences because of it, and have gotten to know so many same-minded people.
This blog went through a makeover this past year, with a whole new layout and a new link URL. Hopefully you like it more now, because I know I adore it sooo much!
For those of you who are wondering, the giveaway is closed only for Macedonia for now. Fingers crossed the next ones will be international!

Shy But Secretly Fabulous!

Shy But Secretly Fabulous.

Let's reminisce on the past for a bit, when a 7 year old Elena was just starting elementary school. I can't say I was immediately transfixed on books and reading, as I first needed to learn how to read. From the first day when I got my ABC book, my grandmother made me sit for an hour, every day by her side to practice my reading whilst she was preparing lunch. I hated it at first, all I wanted to do was play outside with my friends but instead, I was stuck at home reading. But, as time flew by my reading improved and I started to find something really interesting about it. I even remember when it was my turn to read out loud in school and there would be dead silence as I began to read. Little first grade Elena took that as a huge compliment. I would ask for books for birthdays instead of toys, I even keep some of them till this day. And when I shared a room with my younger brother when we were little, I used to read to him before bed.
Sadly, I now find it hard to set time apart to read something purely because of desire and not obligation. I do feel a bit somber because of it, as I can remember why I started to love it in the first place. Maybe this trip to the library will change my mind.
A big thank you to "Brakja Miladinovci" and the library Drugarche for letting us take photos here, and to the lovely employees.

November Playlist | 2016

Wait, how is 2016 almost over?! With every playlist I do, I get more and more aware of this whole time concept and how it goes by so quickly! Anyways, a small recap for the month of November is due, so here we go. I was on a blogging high this month, I've never had so much strive to do something. With this post, that will conclude to 7 posts only for this month! That's so crazy to me, I remember struggling to make 2 posts a month back in the day, but now I'm feeling more and more productive with each passing day. I don't know if that's connected to me not wanting to study for finals or what, but I know I'm loving it and I think you guys are too! Of course, working and surrounding myself with creative people helps too. I'm planing something big for next month, so fingers crossed for that.
Now, let's focus on the music and break down what I've been loving in November.

By now we all need and love Instagram. I remember being 15 and Instagram not being able to download on my small phone because it didn't have the newest Android system. I felt soooo sad because all I wanted to do was post photos of my food and artsy shots of my suroundings, plus everybody had it and I was basically the only one living without it. Years pass and now I have an Instagram which isn't anything special, but the love is still here to this day. And just like the rest of the world, I ocasionally stalk amazing Instagram photographers, fashion bloggers, foodies etc. And the truth is, because of this app I've met amazing people and we've bonded over our love for it. This is just the case with the photographer behind this post, Irina. Her amazing eye for photography is loved by many and I am so thankful she was down to shoot me for my blog. High five for Instagram friendships!
Check out Irina here.

Comfort Is Key

Another week, another outfit post! I hope you enjoyed my last post as it was a bit different because I'm trying to introduce new things to the blog. Anyways, today I am paying homage to one of the best winter basics - a turtleneck! Some call them roll-neck, some call them polo neck. Either way, I love 'em! I've been on the hunt for chunky turtlenecks for the past two weeks now because a) I want them in all shades and colors and b) I just don't seem to have enough in my closet ATM.
And thus, the great Turtleneck Conquest began and Elena was searching high and low for one to add to her small collection. So when she found one at Bebel Fashion (can also get it on New Look) she knew it was destiny.
But no, in all honesty this thing is so warm and cosy I think I can spend an eternity in it. And the best part with wearing basics - you can jazz them up with accessories! My new thing is putting pins and badges as a personal touch, I think it's too cute not to!
I hope this inspires you in some way, till next time!

Monthly Moments | November

So, I've been thinking about bringing in a new series to the blog just to shake things up a bit. And one day when Angela and I were making plans about going to our favorite sweet pastry and cakes place I came up with an idea, told her to bring her camera and just see what happens.
So, I present to you the first post in the "Monthly Moments" series, where I take you along with me for a day around a certain part of Skopje (it doesn't have to be just Skopje) and I recommend a few of the places I visit along the way. That might be museums, cafes, anything!
For the first post I present to you a specific part of Stara Charshija (Old Bazaar), a place that has so much history and is loved by all of the people from Skopje. There isn't enough words for me to start describing Charshija and its beauty, and there surely isn't enough photos in the world for me to try and capture everything in one post. Today I take you up Samoilova street, a place that is as quiet as it is picturesque. With autumn making it impossible for us to not stop at every corner to take photos, our little "stroll around" turned into an hour long photoshoot. So, if you are in the Skopje area and find yourself in a photographic rut, I suggest coming up to this place.
We later visited K8, one of the best sweet bakeries in town with delicious cakes, cupcakes and tartes for days! We went for some tea to warm us up and put us in the total autumn spirit, and I chose a Snickers cake (I eat this every time I go there, It's heavenly) and Angela went for a Chocolate cake. 10/10 for this place!
Hope you'll enjoy these kinds of posts, more to come next month!

FWSK AW 17/16 | TMF Fashion show

Finishing off the FWSK reviews with the fashion show of the students from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy - Skopje, Fashion Design under the mentorship of Lidija Georgieva. The theme of the collections was "Rhythm and science", which Georgieva describes as the unbreakable bound between fashion and technology nowadays.
What I loved about this show was that you could clearly see the visions of each of the students, and how differently they can think with a given theme and background story. From gorgeous dresses to 3D elements, I was positively surprised with these young designers. I've chosen a few of my favorite designs to share with you here, but you can see the rest of the creations here

FWSK AW 16/17 | Irina Tosheva

Continuing this season's reviews with Irina Tosheva's collection inspired by the Firebird from Slavic mythology. First off, how cool of a concept is that?! Tosheva always brings something new and fresh to the table, with every collection having a unique story behind it.
From the very beginning I knew I would love this collection, with Irina teasing sneak peeks via Facebook. The anticipation was high, and you could feel the cool energy at the start of she show. And when the first model came out carrying a cocktail,we all knew this was going to be a party in every sense of the word. Bright colors, whimsical patterns and butterflies in the girls' hair - the fashion show was a complete 10/10.

FWSK AW 16/17 | Jovana Filipovic

Fashion Weekend Skopje started on October 30th on one heck of a cold night. But that doesn't stop every fashion enthusiast in Skopje to attend this seasonal event, including me. So just like the years before, I'm reviewing some of my favorite shows from the season, starting off with Jovana Filipovich.
Jovana Filipovich is a FWSK veteran with her countless collections filled with amazing garments that leave people in awe. Her style is sleek and feminine, showing how a true #girlboss needs to dress. This collection especially screamed Jovana Filipovich to me with the accessories of choice like wide brimmed hats and killer black heels. When the models walk down the runway you can truly tell who is the designer without a doubt. From the iconic LBD to a fiery red bodysuit, Jovana's collection embodies the chic modern woman that we all strive to be.

October Playlist | 2016

So October is about to end so that means it's time for the monthly playlist! This time around it's all about Banks and her album "The Altar" + a couple of other amazing songs! But before we jump into that, I wanted to mention what's to come on the blog in the next couple of days. I'm attending Skopje Fashion Weekend once again and I will be reviewing some of the fashion shows and sharing my thoughts on the collections. I've got my outfits ready to go, the vibe I'm going for this year is "street style chic", so we'll see where that takes us.
Anyway, here are the best of the best for the month of October!

My babes Years & Years FINALLY released a new song and it was featured in the 2016 Bridget Jones's Baby, which I watched and cry laughed through the whole thing (definitely recommend watching it!). "Meteorite" is an upbeat, synth-pop goodness and I expected nothing less from my favorite band. I just love them so much, I want more!

"To U" by Skrillex & Diplo, also known as Jack U had a string of hits in 2015 and granted, I loved most of them. But somehow this song slipped under the radar so I discovered it only this month. But it's been on replay for about two weeks now, so that means that a good song is a good song, no matter how old it is. I feel like this month's playlist is a mish mash of every song genre, all I'm missing is some country music haha.

I discovered "Guys My Age" by Hey Violet about a week ago and It became an instant favorite. The song is upbeat and the chorus is very catchy. I've never heard of Hey Violet before, and probably most of you don't know about this band either (if you do, props to you!). They are an American pop rock band that consists of three girls and two guys, which is something that Is actually rare because most of the time it's an all guy band or just the lead singer is the girl. But hey, good for them!

Now, onto my fave songs for this month from "The Altar" by Banks:
"Trainwreck" caught me off guard at the moment because it's more fast tempo, and I'm used to her songs being a bit slower. The whole rhythm of the song captures you from the very first second and when I was listening through her whole album this is the first song that stood out to me. When I sing along I feel like a badass and that's always a plus in my book.
What's the most interesting to me is that Banks said in an interview that she wrote down the verses to this song when she was 14, and they've stayed in her head this whole time! If that doesn't say she is an amazing songwriter IDK what does.
"Poltergeist" and "Judas" are songs that to me represent lyrical perfection. From "You've mistaken all my mistakes for my crooked nature" from Poltergeist to "Thought you was heaven sent, you left for the hell of it" and "Beggin me for thread I think you need to change your brain" from Judas that is also a nod to her two previous songs "Beggin For Thread" and "Brain". I find both songs so dark and mysterious, something that I find is lacking in songs that are "more mainstream" nowadays.
"This Is Not About Us" has a faster pace and a more "girl in charge" vibe. Very different to the previous three songs I mentioned, but that is what I love about Banks, she can do no wrong!

You can click HERE for the whole playlist or on the individual titles of the songs in the text! Till next month!

I wanted to talk about how much a single item of clothing can hold such meaning to a person. For me, this top is a story all by itself. It reminds me of my summer spent in Italy and how I bought it on the very first day there because I related to the quote on it, and an hour later I stained it with Nutella gelato from Sottozero. Later on, this top bas my go to cover up for the cold nights spent on the bus from every trip we took back to our apartment (because stupid me didn't bring a jacket). So, where ever I went, this little striped 3/4 lenght sleeve top went with me. My point is, we all have some pieces of clothing that hold memories, whether those are good or bad. If you have something like that, share it with me in the comments!

The Fall

Two things you should know about me: 1. I love autumn, it's my favorite season & 2. I love pugs.Oh so basic, but just let me be guys! So when I was gifted a tote bag with pugs on it I almost lost it,  it's everything I've ever wanted... The chances of me having a pug in the near future are close to zero, so this is my second best. A big thank you to Angela (and all of my other fabulous friends), how talented is she?!

First off, how do we feel about the new look? I absolutely love it, it has been on my to-do list for a few months now, I just wanted a new refreshed look and I finally decided that the time has come. Also, we have a new domain now! I said in a post a few months back that the blog will be, but that idea took a back seat for a while. And now I can finally breathe and post with pleasure!
Anyways, time for a new outfit post, one that I've had on hold for about two week now. This was back when we had sunshine instead of rain, but I'm still hopeful that the weather in Skopje will start to get better. My OG blog photographer Angela wanted to shoot at this location for some time now, so we set up a time on a Saturday morning & this is the outcome. I fell in love with this location, it's something that you can't find in Skopje that easily, and it shows a different side of the city. When it comes to finding locations for shooting, we struggle. But actually, we have really cool locations here, it's just about going out and searching for them.
I hope you enjoy the post!

A trip to... #9

So It's been a while since I posted something about my Italy adventures, so in protest to the gloomy weather we are having right now in Skopje, I decided to share probably my favorite trip of the whole month I spent in southern Italy. I'm talking about the amazing cruise around the Aeolian Islands also known as Isole Eolie. So grab a cup of tea and enjoy my little recap from this trip.

The first thing I need to say is that we were running on "low fuel" because the day before we went to Palermo, got back in Reggio at around 1AM and were supposed to get up at 7 AM to go to the Islands. So, at the beginning we were over the whole trip even before it started. Little did we know how amazing it would turn out to be.
For those of you who don't know, the Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago north from Sicily. So that meant that we first had to get to Sicily, travel another 3-4 hours by bus and then get on the boat to start the cruise. This trip to Italy in general was a lot of firsts for me. I've never been on a plane before, neither on a ferry, and definitely never been on a cruise boat. So you can say that I was quite excited.
Our schedule went a little something like this: a trip around some of the Islands, a two hour stop at Panarea Island and another two to three hours at Stromboli. As our boat was getting further and further away from the dock this whole thing became even more real. On our way to Panarea we gazed into the blue depths of the Tyrrhenian Sea and even saw a dolphin! Soon enough we were able to see a group of scattered islands on the horizon, looking small but we all knew that they were bigger than we could ever imagine.

September Playlist | 2016

It's the end of September so you guys know what that means! Playlist time, woohoo! But first, life update: I started college a few weeks ago and so far, so good. I'm studying English Language and Literature here in Skopje and I'm finding each subject interesting so far. I'm thinking about taking on another foreign language, one that I haven't studied before so we'll see where that takes us.
September is over and so many things happened this past month that I can't even. I went to a couple of fashion events and it was definitely strange as I went on a small "detox" these past few months. And now slowly we are getting back into the game with Skopje Fashion Weekend being scheduled for the end of October. Speaking of October, I know it's going to be an interesting month with different events happening, both on a personal and social level - but more on that next month!
The playlist today is a true mess. From pop hits to songs that you've never heard of before - it's all here.

I am finally back with an outfit post. I've really missed doing these types of posts. The whole process from picking the outfit to choosing the final photos. But with that being said I've kind of forgotten how to write texts about outfit posts, soo here we are!
I collaborated again with Captured by Klisarova (we all know and love her by now) and when she said she had a fun prop for me I was quite excited. That prop was a super cute penny board, with the dreamiest color combination ever! Now, I've ridden a skateboard before, only a couple of times, but penny boards are a totally different thing. They are lighter and smaller, so that makes them kind of difficult to balance. But, by the end of the shoot I was left wanting one for myself, they are just too cute!
I chose a casual and comfy look that's suited for cruising on a penny board. If I had some extra cool big headphones I would add them to the look, but I don't so we can leave that for next time.
I hope you enjoy the photos.

August Playlist | 2016

Soo I'm back in Skopje! A month exploring south Italy was an amazing experience but I am more than ready to get back to my regular life. I have a few more travel posts but I will disperse them so that it's not travel posts all day every day.
Returning home is kind of like returning to reality, no more beaches and speaking Italian on a daily basis. Even though I really loved the Italian life, I missed catching up with friends over a cup of coffee, or coming home to a cooked meal, or just the simplest of things like sleeping in my own bed. But, now that I'm back, I am craving some "Vitamin Sea", eating delicious authentic pizza and interacting with people from different countries at school. Oh mind, how I adore you and your little tricks.
When It came to music, there wasn't a big list of newly discovered songs in August. But, even if I listened to just one song on repeat I would still make a playlist about it. So, here are my choices for this past month.

A trip to... #8

I hope you enjoyed my last post about the wonderful Palermo, but now we are taking a trip down Gerace and the small picturesque Borgo Antico. Borgo Antico or The Medieval Town was our main trip, as the castle or "the town" is situated at the top of Gerace. I went with an open mind and little expectation on this trip, but was pleasantly surprised. Borgo Antico was adorably quiet and tucked away from the world, with a couple of inhabitants living in small picturesque houses. At times like these I wish I was in their shoes for at least a day, to feel the peace that they feel. Just like the rest of Italy, there is an abundance of churches  (there used to be 128, but not all are remaining) and we visited two of them. I snapped a "quick" picture that you can see below of the amazing altar from the church of St. Francis that dates back to the 13nth century. When we were left with about an hour to just wonder around the village, we took the advantage to walk through every little street, even if that meant walking straight into someone's backyard.
And now I hope you enjoy the photos and until the next travel post!

A trip to... #7

So, it's been an eventful couple of days here in Italy. In the last 3 days I've visited 4 towns and two islands. With this being said, expect a lot of new travel posts. Today it's all about Palermo, the capital of Sicily and our marvelous day exploring it. Palermo is such a wonderful city, filled with numerous landmarks, museums, theaters, parks, and endless streets with different venders, shops and art galleries. This city truly is a melting pot of different cultures, as it has been occupied by different nations in the past. The buildings are a true depiction of what different cultures wanted at the time, whether that's the Baroque or the Gothic style. Walking the streets of Palermo, you really get a sence of the city, and seing amazing landmarks such as the Cathedral, Martorana and San Cataldo, Fountain Pretoria, Catacombe Dei Cappuccini etc. is truly an overwhelming feeling.

A Trip To... #6

Long time no speak, or hear, or read... As some of you may know, I am in Italy right now and will be until September 1st. And with this, I said that I'll be posting lots of travel posts! Well, it's time for the first one! Take a trip with me to Tropea and Pizzo, two beautiful sea side towns on the Calabrian Coast.

July Playlist | 2016

It's been a long time guys, I know. Even though I would love to just keep making outfit posts I haven't had the proper time (or equipment) to do them. I've been basically traveling my little bum off in July, and August isn't any different. Since I got back from EXIT, I stayed at home for about 5 days, and them went on vacation with my family for two weeks. So, right now I'm still on vacation, soaking up the sun and the sea in Greece and making the most of it. And right when I get back home, I have to leave again. And this time it's veeery different. I'm leaving for a month to study Italian in Reggio Calabria, Italy. Basically, I've been studying Italian for a couple of years now and it's time to take my knowledge out into the world, the Italian speaking world.I plan on making a post for every spot I visit (since we will be visiting other cities other than Reggio) so look forward to those! Oh, and follow me on Instagram @vasilevska_elena and on Snapchat @elenaa-v for more updates!

A Trip To... #5

Hello! Time for the 5th edition of "A trip to..." This time I went to Novi Sad for EXIT festival, and let me tell you I was sooo not ready for what was to come. The whole EXIT experience was amazing and I had the opportunity to see some of my favorite artists that I have been listening to for years (khm Ellie Goulding and Wilkinson) and It felt surreal, to say the least. But, today we are focusing on Novi Sad, one of my favorite cities in the world. I visited Novi Sad three years ago just for a day and fell in love, so this was like seeing and old friend again. The town itself has a very warm and inviting look, with pastel colored facades begging to be photographed.
We stayed at Hostel Frenky (recommended, such a sweet owner and really close to the city center) and the location allowed us to visit just about every place the center had to offer. For those of you who might be wandering, we walked to the Petrovaradin Fortress (where EXIT is held) and it took us around 20 minutes to get there. If you have any questions about EXIT, comment down bellow or just email me at

June Playlist | 2016

Wait, how is June over already?! I swear time passes by so quickly now that summer has started, and that both worries and excites me. It excites me because that means that I won't have to wait long for the fun things that I've planned to do this summer, but worries me because those times will also just fly by. Speaking of fun things, I've done basically nothing in June, just a lot of studying and exams (graduating ain't fun y'all) BUT I'm making up for it in July! I might have mentioned in a previous playlist post, but I am attending EXIT in Novi Sad this year and that's in a couple of days so I am low key freaking out. The excitement guys, it's real! I am also very excited to be in Novi Sad again, I love that city so much. Expect a travel post from this whole experience. And if you want to be all caught up follow me on Instagram @vasilevska_elena and on Snapchat @elenaa-v
And without further or do, let's dissect this playlist song by song.

I'm back with a look that I am IN LOVE with. I love how simple it is but still gives off a very stylish vibe. With every season I find myself reaching toward a certain piece of clothing and every time I go shopping I always look for that certain piece. This time around it's the jumpsuit. Sure, they can be quite tricky when it comes to going to the bathroom, but a jumpsuit is basically an entire outfit in one piece! In summer, personally, I don't like wearing a lot of layers, so things like jumpsuits make my life much easier. This jumpsuit is from Tally Weijl and it's perfection. The top portion makes it great for both casual and dressy looks, and I definitely see myself wearing it a lot.

Stripes & Denim

I'm back with another another outfit of the day! I swear if I am not wearing my mom jeans aka it's too hot for them, you can find me wearing this denim skirt. In fact, the skirt is made from the same exact material that the mom jeans are made of, so I think of it like the cousin of the jeans. And of course, you can't go wrong with stripes. I swear, anything that has stripes on it is my go-to piece. This top is from Tally Weijl and It's the softest most comfortable thing in the whole world.
In other news, I started using Snapchat publicly, so add me @elenaa-v

90s sunshine

So first things first, as you might tell, my domain is gone. But, it won't be for long as I am in the process of buying a new one, so just a heads up : the URL will no longer be WWW.SHYBUTSECRETLYFAB.COM, instead you will be able to find my blog at WWW.SHYBUTSECRETLYFABULOUS.COM .  Yeah, a major change haha. To keep up with the changes visit my Facebook Page.
Anyways, I am back with a new outfit, one that I might say is my go-to these past couple of weeks. Mom jeans + T-shirt + Converse + choker = 90s overload, but tbh loves it. But how adorable is this choker from Splash of Colors? It makes me feel all cool and trendy. Accessories really can change up the look of an outfit.

May Playlist | 2016

It's the start of a new month so that means it's playlist time!
First off a quick recap of the month of May: prom happened, we had a good time, was a princess for a day. The best part was when I got to my building the morning after prom and went into the elevator, this little girl with her father entered right behind me and this girl looked at me with amazement (because of the Cinderella-esque dress ofc) and that made me so happy. Anyways, after prom was over I spent my days sleeping and nights on my computer, and that's not good. Started studying for finals a couple of days ago and the fact that the whole month of June will be spent doing that makes me feel anxious. Yeah, school amirite.
Anyways, here is what I've been listening to for the month of May, lot's of new artists and songs!

The Urban Cinderella

Sooo it was my prom a couple of days ago. When it came to deciding what I wanted to wear, I was torn between too many beautiful dresses and different styles, but there was only one thing that I was certain about - I wanted to be a princess. A tulle wearing, back bearing princess - and nothing/no one could make me change my mind. So, I picked a model from the internet and put my own twist to it. I chose this pale blue/gray color because 1. I knew from the begging I wanted a pastel color & 2.It looked soo pretty. For my accessories I went simple with just a couple of rings and a cuff earring with crystals + a silver clutch. And now that the highly anticipated evening is over, I have my dress hanging from the side of my closet with all of the stains to remind me of the night.

April Playlist | 2016

So, another month has passed and that means it's time for an April Playlist! Wohoo!
April kind of flew by and I have about two weeks left of school and then there's prom and I am low key freaking out right now. Writing these posts is always like a reality check for me - yes Elena, another month has passed and you are still sitting on your bed, on your laptop, eating chocolate. I swear I get stuff done... eventually. Anyways, there isn't that much to say about April, I legit don't recall on what happened. What happened in April?!? While I try to remember, here are the songs that I have been loving this past month.

Oh, and before we continue, I just want to mention this incredible artist that I found on Tumblr. Stacy Wyss is an amazing watercolor astist and I have been dying over her drawings that she posts on her page that you can check out HERE. Her painting is the background image I used as the playlist background, as well as last months playlist.

Drumaq is back on the playlist with his newest single "We could be" with producer Dapurr. In a few playlists back I raved about these two as a music making duo and how they are so in sync and amazing together. I absolutely love this song and it was on replay the entire month of April. It has that dream pop/chill vibe that I adore, and I recommend listening to this one for sure!

"Tragedy" was one of those random finds on a late night that you instantly obsess over. It has the same feel like "We could be" with a dream pop vibe that leaves you singing along to the lyrics in no time.

Okay by now you guys might know that I have a slight obsession with Zara Larsson, so when I heard that she had a song with Tinie Tempah I knew that was something that had to be heard. And next thing I know I'm dancing around my room in my pajamas having a full on dance party to this song. "Girls Like" is the perfect "get in a good mood" song / "I am becoming a hip hop dancer" kind of song, ya feel me?

The next two songs are from the album that I have been low key loving in April, it's "Wild Things" and "Overdose" by Alessia Cara. First of all - amazing! Second of all - How have I not been jamming out to these songs sooner?! Alessia's music has been floating around my music radar for months now, but I am only now realizing how good her songs are. "Wild Things" has the best video ever, talk about friendship goals. And for "Overdose" I have a vision for what the music video should be like and since I can say whatever I want on here, here it goes: Alessia is a modern day princess and there is a ball where she meets her Prince Charming, and they dance together and fall in love but they manage to get lost in the crowd. The music really gives me a "All The Right Moves" by OneRepublic vibe, and their video is something similar to what I am imagining to "Overdose", with people dancing around with ball gowns and masks. But yeah, that's just my opinion haha.

"Mind Over Matter" by Young The Giant is up there for me with "Genghis Khan" by Miike Snow in the "songs that will lift up your mood" category. I like to listen to this song with the speakers on full blast, and if I didn't have thin bedroom walls, you can bet that I would have been belting out this song from the top of my lungs. I think that this song has turned me into a Young The Giant fan, so I will definitely be checking out their other music.

In a previous playlist I said that I rank the music that I listen to from good to "Oh my God Kyle Hanagami needs to do a choreography to this song!!!". On that rank, "Crazy For You" is definitely on the Kyle Hanagami side. It sounds so sensual and mesmerizing at the same time. And the most incredible part, the singer aka JOY. is an 18 year old! With facts like these I just re-evaluate my life a little bit and cry (just kidding) and move on with my "couch potato" life.

And that concludes the April edition of my Monthly Playlist posts! Click HERE for the whole playlist, or on the individual titles to listen to the songs!

Mom Jeans

Today I want to touch on the topic of "how much can one love a certain piece of clothing". I have had my fair share of favorite clothing items and wearing them to death has become a habit, and finding different ways to wear them is like a personal style challenge. This is the part where i swoon over my new mom jeans and the fact that I literally can't imagine wearing anything else (jeans wise). I never thought I would be one to wear them as I don't like when pants don't fit me snug around my legs and I feel like I'm wearing the wrong sized jeans, but as soon as I tried these on I felt like a whole nother person - dare I say a mom?! But the cool kind of mom, the one who is chill and down for whatever and buys her kids endless amounts of clothes. Anyways, now that we're done reflecting, here is my outfit from a few days ago - casual and cool, my fave combo.

Ice Ice Baby

I don't know where you live, but in Skopje it's full on summer! With 25+ C degrees there is only one thing we need - Ice cream! And can I just say, using Ice cream as a photo shoot prop on such high temperatures is close to impossible, and it was like a battle between me and the melting ice cream cone (but a delicious battle none the less).
Eating ice cream from Malaga and walking around Skopje Center was a regular once a week tradition with my parents when I was little, so simple things like these take me back and bring me sweet (literally) memories. Did you have any traditions with your parents? Let me know in the comments!
